Lawrence C. Sample was a kind and caring man, who was loved and respected by many. He always said, *Study Man and Study Man Ways.* He always had time to listen, talk, and give advice when asked. You always felt loved and a little wiser after seeing and talking to Lawrence. Lawrence passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025, in the comfort of his home in
Kansas City, Missouri. Lawrence was Born on January 7, 1929, to Elmer and Jane Etta Hankins Sample in New Hope, Oklahoma. Lawrence was an only child and always bragged about owning his own horse. He said, *that was a big deal back in those days.* Lawrence found Christ at the early age of 10 years old and was baptized in a creek at New Hope Baptist Church in New Hope, Oklahoma. Lawrence graduated from Summit High School in Summit, Oklahoma in May of 1948 and on June 2, 1948, Lawrence married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Carmen. Lawrence and Dorothy had five children, two boys and three girls, Glennda Sample Jiles, Clifton Sample, Regina Sample, Janice Sample and Rodney Sample. Lawrence and Dorothy were married for 24 years until Dorothy passed away on September 20, 1972. In September of 1981 Lawrence found love again when he met Ramona Sample. They got married on November 19, 1983, and just recently celebrated their 42nd Anniversary. To this union Lawrence gained two daughters, Rosalind Ross and Donna Heath. He also had two special daughters, Linda Jones and Daniela Davis, and a special son, Jermel *Cortez* Davis. Lawrence also cared very deeply for his caring neighbour*s, Burton and Tracy Love.Lawrence started working for General Motors in Fairfax, Kansas in 1952 and retired in 1980. During that time, in 1964, Lawrence joined the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Kansas Masonic Fraternity and was a PROUD member of Widow*s Son Lodge #17 in Kansas City, Kansas. Lawrence loved being a Mason and continued his masonic career by joining the United Supreme Council and became a member of Orient Consistory #19 in Kansas City, Kansas. Lawrence was elevated to the 33rd Degree in Masonry on June 24, 1986. Being an only child, Lawrence treasured the brotherhood that he found in masonry and the brother*s treasured him, his knowledge, and his wisdom. Also, Lawrence was a faithful member of Zion Grove Baptist Church for fifty plus years. He organized and was President of the Usher Board #2 for twenty plus years. Lawrence and Ramona faith led them to Bannister Road Baptist Church, and they joined and became faithful members on February 23, 2020. Lawrence was preceded in death by his mother, Jane Etta Hankins, his father, Elmer Sample, his former wife, Dorothy Carmon-Sample, and his son, Clifton Sample. Lawrence leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Ramona Sample, daughters, Glennda Sample Jiles, Regina Sample, Janice Sample, Rosalind(Dennis)Ross, Donna Health, and son, Rodney(Stephanie)Sample; Grandchildren, Charriere Jiles, Ramonda Sample, Frederick Butler, Asha Sample and Adom Sample and 36 Great-Grandchildren. He also leaves his special children, Linda Jones, Jermel (Daniela)Davis, Eric (Lisa)Wilson, and his masonic brothers and a host of family and friends.
