Garland Sanford, 83, of Denton Texas, passed away on Monday, October 6, 2025. He was born on May 15, 1942, in Lamesa, Texas to Douglas and Ellen Sanford, Esie Viola Sanford.

Garland worked for Mack Truck as a diesel mechanic, worked as a foreman for Robert Stateson Development. Garland also owned and operated a shrimp boat in the 1970's.

Garland was everyone's Mr. Fix-it, there is nothing he would not do when asked by family and friends. He loved playing poker at the VFW every Tuesday night. Garland was a happy, go lucky kinda guy, he always spoke to and aggravated everyone.

Garland is survived by his children, Karen Long, Perry Sanford, W.D. Sanford, John David, Robert Sanford, Kenny Mitchell, Heath Medley, Greg Medley, Ron and Shirley Sears, Bryce and Sheila Ivings. Grandchildren, Cody Sanford, Kyle Sanford, Sierra Sanford, Levi Mitchell, Ronnie Sears, Andrew and Ethan Ivings. Great-grandchildren, Keegan Sanford, and Everest Sanford and a host of other beloved extended family and treasured friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Douglas Sanford and Esie Viola McGee Sanford; sisters, Dolores, Glenda, Jean; brothers, John, Gerald, Donald, Ronnie, and Robert and a host of beloved extended family and treasured friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday October 9, 2025, from 6 to 8 pm at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home in Denton, TX. The graveside service will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 10:00 am at Jackson Cemetery in Krum, TX.

Everybody Needs a Garland in their life, he will be missed by many.
