Lawrence Ray Simbro, 80, of Glenwood, Iowa, passed away on March 8, 2026, in Glenwood. He was born September 9, 1945 in Knoxville, Iowa, to Kenneth Lawrence Simbro and Emma Maxine (Koons) Simbro.
Known to many as Larry or Ray, depending on the generation, Lawrence was a man who embraced both hard work and adventure. He spent much of his career as a truck driver, a profession that suited his love for the open road. His hobbies included riding motorcycles and watching auto racing. In his younger years, he even participated in racing himself. He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit and strong work ethic.
Lawrence is survived by his children: Bridget (Simbro) Johnson and her husband Roger of Great Falls, MT; Dena Simbro of Sweet Springs, MO; Laura (Simbro) Smith of Council Bluffs, IA; Lawrence Simbro Jr. of Fremont, NE; Michael Simbro and his wife Melinda of Sweet Springs, MO; Joshua Leonard of Glenwood, IA; and Andrea (Leonard) Carbis of Glenwood, IA. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Additional survivors include his siblings: Beverly (Simbro) Goforth and her husband William of Lompoc, CA; Daniel Simbro and his wife Diane of Monroe City, MO; Ricky Simbro and his wife Toni of St. Joseph, MO and Pamela (Simbro) Kissinger and her husband Russell of Stanberry, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Lawrence Simbro and Emma Maxine (Koons) Simbro, as well as his wife, Sandra (Leonard) Simbro.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Roberson Funeral Home in Stanberry, Missouri. Inurnment with military rites will follow at High Ridge Cemetery in Stanberry.
