Lawrence E. Sonny Spiers

Lawrence Edward "Sonny" Spiers, Jr., 86, of Stony Creek, passed away Wednesday. October 13, 2021. He was son of the late Lawrence Edward and Dorothy Poole Spiers and was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Spiers Fleming and brothers, Emmett Frank Spiers and David Spiers.
Sonny was a lifelong member of Concord United Methodist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing.
Sonny is survived by his wife, Mary Rideout Spiers; nieces and nephews, David Spiers, Jr. (Tina), Gary Spiers (Tanya), Carol Webster (Ricky), Keith Fleming (Diane), Lawrence Fleming (Christie), Jimmy Rideout (Becky), Donnie Rideout and Steve Rideout (Laura); great-nieces and nephews, Brandon, Megan, Morgan, Anna, Lauren, Will, Liz, Becca, Katelyn, Allyson, Wesley and Cooper; several great-great-nieces and nephews. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Mildred Spiers and Nancy Rideout and brother-in-law, Tommy Rideout; and many friends who were like family to him.
The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Oct 17 at Owen Funeral Home, 303 S. Halifax Rd., Jarratt, Virginia where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, October 18. Interment at Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery will follow.
