Layla Jane Nemeth
December 6, 2005 – March 7, 2025
Naugatuck, CT Layla Jane Nemeth, 19, the daughter of Matthew and Dawn Nemeth, passed away Friday March 7th at NYU Langone Hospital.
Layla was a lifelong Naugatuck resident, graduating from Naugatuck High in 2024. She was an avid soccer player, having played for multiple clubs over many years, and served as Co-Captain of the NHS Girls soccer team and CT Rush Central. Layla worked at Rich Farm Ice Cream Shop for several years. She was a freshman at St. Michael’s College in Colchester VT, majoring in biochemistry. Layla was known as a free spirit and a bright light in the lives of many. She loved live music, science, the outdoors, her dog Nellie, Quentin Tarantino movies, Thai food and most deeply, her friends. She was so very loved and will be sorely missed.
Layla is survived by her parents, Matthew and Dawn; brother, Owen; Paternal Grandparents, Peter & Jodi Nemeth of Madera, CA and Carol Hadden of Las Vegas Nevada; Maternal Grandparents Donna Schuld & Bill Nardello of Waterbury, and Peter & Bin Schuld of Naugatuck; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who were like family.
Calling Hours will be Tuesday, March 18, 2025 from 5:00 to 8:00pm at the Buckmiller Ford Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck.
A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at 11:00am at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 210 Church Street, Naugatuck. Everyone attending the service is kindly asked to please meet directly at church. In lieu of flowers and to honor Layla’s memory, donations are requested to the Ronald McDonald House of New York by clicking HERE.
