Layne Thomas Bennett, a proud Marine, dedicated outdoorsman, loving father, and great friend, passed away on October 2nd, 2025, at the age of 40. He leaves behind a legacy of honor, commitment, and love that will be cherished by his family and friends forever.

Born on August 17th, 1985, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was adopted into the loving arms of Tom & Connie Bennett on October 11, 1985. Layne was known for his steadfast loyalty, sense of humor, and generous heart. He valued the simple, meaningful parts of life and found immense joy in spending time with those he loved.

At the age of 18, Layne enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served his country with distinction and courage for 5 years. He lived by the Corps' values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment, which guided him both in his military service and in his personal life. He was discharged in 2009.

Following his military service, Layne's passion for the outdoors became a central part of his life. He found solace and peace in nature, whether he was fishing, hunting, or lighting off fireworks. He loved sharing his love for the wilderness with his children, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime.

He worked in the oil fields of Montana and West Texas, started his own business in Garrison Creek Construction and Lakes Edge Knife Sharpening, and worked on many concrete jobs around North Dakota and especially Minot and Garrison. He also started a new business with his son, 3Dakota Dimensions.

Above all, Layne's greatest source of pride was his family. He was a loving and devoted father to his children, Aryanna, Camille & Thomas. He also leaves behind his beloved dog Copper who was by his side until the very end.

He was preceded in death by daughter, Aryanna Bennett, grandparents Francis & Doris Krebsbach, grandparents George & Ruth Bennett, grandmother Helaine McEinry, Uncle David Krebsbach and his daughter, Ann Marie, and Jennifer Lynn Wollmuth, daughter of Peggy and Steve Wollmuth.

Survived by daughter Camille Bennett, son Thomas Bennett, parents Tom& Connie Bennett, sisters Maggie and Medora Bennett, Camille's Mother, Cody and her husband, James Bouck, Thomas's Mother Randi and husband, Lee Streich, and their children Rylee and Ruby, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

A funeral service to honor Layne's life and service will be held on Thursday October 9th at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Garrison, ND. He requested no military tributes at this time.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to charities which meant so much to him, St. Judes or the Wounded Warrior Project.
