Lea Anne (Taylor) Martin, 70, of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin passed away Saturday, February 25, 2023 at her home. She was born in Prairie du Chien, WI on May 8, 1952 to Earl and Belita (Stokes) Taylor. She was the second of three children. She had a brother Steve and has a sister Ruth.
Lea attended Prairie du Chien High School, where she met Craig Martin. They Married July 19, 1969 and had three sons – Aaron Craig, Matthew Stanley and Cory Earl. Together they traveled near and far as Craig played men's fast pitch softball. And in the years that followed, the boys began to participate in their own activities, which kept them all very busy.
Lea was an avid bowler. She bowled in the Mississippi Bowling League for more than 50 years, serving as league president for the majority of that time. She enjoyed the sport but also the time she spent with her team and fellow bowlers.
Lea had seven grandchildren, who were the light of her life – Brett Aaron and Sean Arlynn, sons of Aaron and his wife Bonnie, Grant Matthew and Hope Delight, children of Matthew and his wife Nicole, and Austin Robert, Brandon Craig and Emma Lea, children of Cory and his wife Debbie. Along with her sister and best friend Ruth, Lea drove far and wide to watch the grandkids participate in everything from wrestling to baseball to band concerts to volleyball to football to lacrosse to soccer and back again. Traveling to "watch the grandkids" was her passion and such an important part of her life. Lea lived her lifetime in Prairie du Chien. She worked as a cook and as a server in several restaurants in town. She attended St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church and attended activities and sporting events for decades.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Steve his wife Lillian, and her husband of 42 years, Craig. Lea's life was a story of devotion, and she will be missed by us all.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 3 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church with services at 6:00 p.m. followed by food and refreshments at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Crossing Rivers Health Hospice, Eagles Heart and Cancer Telethon, St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, or an organization of your choosing.
