Leandra Kay Cole

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Leandra Kay Cole on January 8 2026 in Colorado Springs CO. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister whose greatest joy in life was her family. She was born February 24 1948 in Petoskey, Michigan to Robert Lee George, and Roberta Mae (Karamol) George. Later in life she moved to Detroit Michigan where she began the next chapter of her life with her love and father of her children Jim R Kennedy. She also met a group of passionate caring friends who became a second family. She loved history, music, to crochet, and spent her time researching her family ancestry going back several generations. Her love for her family was deep. She will be remembered and missed everyday.

Preceded in death by her mother and father, her granddaughter Amber Lee Smith; her brother Don, and sisters Sharon, Maggie, and Teresa. She is survived by her son Dennis Kennedy; her daughter Saline Kennedy Smith; her grandchildren Melanie Smith, Austin Smith, Ben Kennedy, and Jake Kennedy. Her remaining siblings, Carol (Mike) McKay, Diane (Roger) Allen, Elaine (Gibb) Kuspa, Larie (Joe) Lovett, Brian (Teresa) George, Julie (Pete) Tuttle, and Alan George.

A private celebration of life for the family is planned for a later date in Petoskey Michigan.
