Leandro S. Dominguez Sr., 87, resident of Faywood, NM, entered eternal rest Sunday, December 29, 2024 at his residence. He was born on December 25, 1937 to his parents Valentin and Consuelo (Silva) Dominguez in Silver City, NM.
Leandro married the love of his life, Guadalupe Dominguez, in June 1958, beginning a partnership that would span a lifetime. Leandro was a dedicated rancher whose life revolved around the land, the animals, and the family who shared in his work. He cherished the times spent branding cattle with his sons and grandchildren, passing down skills and stories that tied them all to the land.
Beyond the ranch, he found joy in the visits from his brother Pancho and his family, moments of reminiscing that brought warmth and laughter to his home.
Leandro will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but none more than his loyal companion, Junior. Through the years, Junior was a constant presence by his side, and in his final moments, the two remained inseparable.
The memory of Leandro's love for family, ranching, and the quiet companionship of his dog will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
He is survived by his four sons, Leandro S. Dominguez of Bayard, Randall Dominguez (Priscilla) of N. Hurley, Richard S. Dominguez (Jessica) of Bayard, Ernesto Dominguez (Antoinette); his two daughters, Martina Ramos (Armando) and Rubie D. Misquez; his daughter-in-law, Erica Dominguez; his fourteen grandchildren; his twenty-seven great grandchildren; his five great-great grandchildren; his two brothers; his two sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife; his son, Benny Dominguez, Sr.; his two grandsons, Benny "BJ" Dominguez, Jr. and Orlando "Chacho" Misquez, Jr.; his son-in-law, Orlando Misquez, Sr.; his four brothers.
Visitations will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at 8:30am-9:30am at Terrazas Funeral Chapels, with the Holy Rosary commencing at 9:30am, recited by Alicia De La Torre. The Funeral Mass will then move to Infant Jesus Shrine (Hurley) at 11:00am officiated by Father Bhastati Sudhakar. Interment will be following the mass at San Juan Cemetery.
