Leathia Thomas Obituary
Leathia was born February 9, 1947, in Mason, TN, the seventh child to John Will and Cassie Smith. A graduate of Gailor High School in Mason and Christian Brothers College, Leathia served in the 1970s as Executive Director of the Women and Girls Employment Service (WAGES). She also spent many years as a service representative for Pitney Bowes, Inc. before fulfilling her childhood dream of becoming a nurse. She retired as an LPN for Methodist Hospital.
Leathia is survived by her daughter Arminda Thomas (Danny Brookings) of Teaneck, NJ and granddaughter Virginia; brother Royal Smith of Mason, TN; sister Myriam Clark of Raleigh, NC; sister-in-law Wilma Smith of Toledo, OH; and a multitude of cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends who cherish her memory.
The Memorial Service will be held on February 21, 2026 at 2:30pm at Serenity Funeral Home in Memphis, TN.
