LeBron Griffith Obituary

Raised in East Ridge, LeBron was a 1956 graduate of Central High School. He attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville for two years, and graduated from MTSU in 1960 with a BS degree in economics. He began his career with Provident in 1961.
He was a true sportsman, loved UT and UTC football, baseball and drag racing with his race cars.
He was a veteran of the US Army serving as a Colonel after 30 years of service.
LeBron retired from Provident Insurance Co. after 34 years of service.
He was a member of Boynton Baptist Church where he sang in the church choir. He loved the Lord and his church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Doyle Winston Griffith and Mecca Ophelia (Bea) Griffith; brother, James Griffith; and sister, Eileen Brown.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cherry Griffith; two daughters, Janah (Danny) Barber and Danah Thornburg, all of Ringgold; brother, Eugene (Marva) Griffith, Clarkesville, GA; 3 grandsons, Brian (Tammy) Thornburg, Jason (Angie) Barber; and Todd Thornburg., 7 great-grandchildren; 4 nieces & nephews, several cousins and other family members.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 16th at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Keith McLeod and Rev. Jimmy Hutto officiating. Burial will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
