Leda Mae Bartie, 81, was born on March 25, 1943 to the late Raymond Bartie Sr. and May Bell Bartie in Cameron, Louisiana. She attended Audrey Memorial High School in Cameron, Louisiana and later moved to Lake Charles, Louisiana. She worked at Rest Haven Nursing Home and Rosewood Nursing Home as a CNA. She was married to the late Whitney Bartie, Sr. She was a member of Union Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as an Usher and taught Sunday School Mrs. Bartie departed this life February 14, 2025, at Harbor Hospice.
She leaves to cherish her memories her daughters, Linda (Pastor Anthony) Chapman, Shirley Bartie, and Brenda Bartie all of Lake Charles, LA, and Christina Celestine of Houston, TX; and son, Harry Bartie of Lake Charles, LA; a niece she took her as her daughter, Ruth Bartie; her everyday talking buddy, Delores Burton; two sisters, Rose Vital and Iona Clark; and brother, Raymond Bartie, Jr., all of Lake Charles, LA; one uncle, John B. Payton of Los Angeles, CA; 19 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren; godchildren, Annette Steward, Rickey Bartie, Yolanda Bryant and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Tammy and Mary Bartie; sons, Anthony Bartie and Whitney Bartie Jr.; sister, Audrey Bartie; brothers, Walter, Robert Lee, and Lil Walter Bartie; uncles, Wallace Payton and Jimmy Lee Payton; one great grandchild and godchild, John Bartie.
