A Mass of Christian Burial for Kulyn Brooks Manuel will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Oberlin, with Father Pradeep Gali officiating. Interment will follow in Reed Cemetery, Guy Community, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Kulyn, 14, of Oberlin, entered eternal rest on Saturday, February 14, 2026.
Kulyn was a beloved son, grandson, brother, nephew, and friend who brought joy, energy, and kindness into every room he entered. Deeply rooted in his faith, he faithfully served as an altar boy at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Oberlin, carrying out his duties with humility and a sincere heart. He was also active in the church's youth group, where his faith continued to grow and friendships flourished. His bright smile and gentle spirit were a light to all who knew him.
Kulyn was both an athlete and a scholar. A straight-A student at Oberlin High School, he was honored as Student of the Year in his 5th and 8th grade years, reflecting his dedication and strong character. As a member of Beta Club, he worked hard academically and encouraged others to do their best. He proudly ran track and played basketball, baseball, and football, earning the admiration of coaches and teammates for his sportsmanship, leadership, and determination.
Kulyn cherished his friendships and shared a special bond with his main buddies - Bentley, Kobe, Tristin, and Lavan. Together they created countless memories filled with laughter, loyalty, and fun. He was a true friend, and the love he gave so freely will forever live in the hearts of those who knew him.
Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include his parents, Bill and Darlene Chaumont of Oberlin, Stephen Brooks Manuel of Oakdale, and Stormy Ann Johnson of Georgia; three brothers, Jace Manuel, Hunter Johnson, and Hayden Turner; two sisters, Presley Manuel and Lainey Manuel; two aunts, Heather Manuel Coe (Jeremy) of Mittie, and Laci Danielle Manuel (Gabe) of Mittie; one uncle, Byron Keith Manuel (Constance) of Oakdale; his grandfather, Russell Anthony Manuel (Sarah) of Oberlin; his great-grandmother, Elaine Walker of Lake Charles; ten cousins, Alexis Manuel, Drake Manuel, Rylee Manuel, Glen Navarre, III, Daryan Williams, Kade Navarre, Dane Seal, Landon Seal Tori Seal, and Paisley Seal; several friends; and his main buddies, Bentley, Kobe, Tristin, and Lavan.
A time of visitation will be held at Rush Funeral Home, Oberlin, on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume at Rush Funeral Home, Oberlin, on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. until departure to the church.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Byron Manuel, Jeremy Coe, Gabe Seal, Shane Walker, Glen Navarre, III, and Kade Navarre.
