Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Loyce Richard Powers will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Oberlin, with Reverend Adam Jeska and his wife, Stephanie, officiating under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Mrs. Powers, 37, of Oberlin, entered eternal rest on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at Lake Charles Memorial Health System, Lake Charles, LA.
Elizabeth was a woman whose presence could light up any room-a mother, a wife, a daughter, and a dear friend to so many. Her life was defined by love, laughter, and a deep, unwavering care for the people around her.
Known for her quick wit and infectious sense of humor, Elizabeth was the life of every party, bringing joy wherever she went. Whether she was decorating for Halloween with skeletons, buying cute Halloween pajamas or telling stories that left everyone in shock, she had a way of making people feel seen, heard, and loved.
She gave her heart fully to her family, always putting others before herself. As a mother, which she would tell you was her greatest accomplishment, she was nurturing, fiercely devoted, and always one step ahead. As a wife, she was a true partner-loyal, kind, and full of laughter. As a daughter, she was a light and a source of pride. Her love extended far beyond her family as she made everyone feel like they belonged.
Elizabeth found joy in the little things: the comfort of a home-cooked meal shared with family, the peaceful moments sitting on the porch with her dog, Rocky, and the thrill of singing at the top of her lungs to Chappell Roan or Bohemian Rhapsody. Her spirit was vibrant, her presence unforgettable.
Though she is no longer with us in this world, Elizabeth's legacy lives on in the lives she touched. Her warmth, her laughter, and her boundless love will never be forgotten. We will miss her deeply-but we are forever grateful for the time we had, the memories we shared, and the love that will carry us through.
She was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Louis and Sue Richard; one nephew, Ehan Richard; and one cousin, Sara Richard.
Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory include her loving husband of fourteen years, Thomas Michael Powers of Oberlin; one son, Dawson Powers (Caelyn) of Lake Charles; four daughters, Jasmine Fontenot (Cannon) of Lake Charles, Evelyn Powers of Oberlin, Lila Powers of Oberlin, and Aria Powers of Oberlin; her parents, William "Billy" and Andrea Richard of Oberlin; one brother, Matthew Richard (Christy) of Oberlin; her maternal grandparents, Alton "Poochie" and Anita Sonnier of Oberlin; one grandson, Davis Fontenot; and four nieces, Caitlyn Tibbs, Morgan Richard, Chloe Richard, and Caylee Richard.
A time of visitation will be held in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Oberlin, on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
