Lee M. Engman

Lee M. Engman, 86, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 in Libertyville, IL. He was born January 3, 1939 in Virginia, MN and had lived in many destinations around the world, living in Mundelein, IL for the past 50 years. Lee was a graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN and Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA where he received his master’s degree. He was a United States Navy veteran, retiring after 20 years as Lieutenant Commander. Lee was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post #867, was an employee of Baxter International for 22 years and a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Mundelein. In his youth, he coached minor league hockey in Maine and became an NHL scout. He always told the best stories. He enjoyed fishing & hunting, keeping up on current news, traveling the world, visiting places with old and new friends and was a devoted Minnesota Vikings fan.

Surviving are his 3 children, Kimberly (Eric) Lundquist, Lee Erik Engman & Charlie Engman; 4 grandchildren, Sofia, Anna, Natalie & Danielle; brother, Dr. Martin (Devorah) Engman and by sisters-in-law, Jeanne (Anthony LePore) Cusick & Sharon Fanelli.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne Engman in 2014; an infant sister, Juliann; sister-in-law, Mary (Clem) Arricale and by brother-in-law, Joe Fanelli, Jr.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, September 11, 2025 at Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 W. Park Ave. in Libertyville. Funeral services will be at 9:00 a.m. Friday, September 12, 2025 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 10 Lake Street in Mundelein. Interment will follow at Fort Sheridan National Cemetery.
