Lee Farinholt Obituary

Lee McSweeney Farinholt

Lee McSweeney Farinholt sailed away peacefully, at the age of 51, with family at his side. He remained loving, entertaining and bright, even while he faced a difficult journey against cancer.

Lee was Born on December 26, 1972, in Raleigh NC, to Richard and Nancy Farinholt. He was the last of six children, and graciously accepted all the benefits of being the youngest child and sibling.

After working in the technology field in Richmond, Lee resided in Deltaville, VA, where he was a VP at Stingray Point Boatworks, laboring alongside brothers, Rick and Jon. A prominent figure in the sailing community of Deltaville, Lee was active at Fishing Bay Yacht Club and frequently participated in regattas and races, often achieving top placements. Always bold, in 2017 Lee recruited his then 78-year-old mother to serve as galley queen on a sailing trip from the Caribbean to Fishing Bay Marina in Deltaville. He also enjoyed competing with his billiards team, the Rack Stars.

Displaying his Irish roots, Lee kept the generous and warm caregivers entertained with his wit and playful irreverence. The family would like to thank Comfort Keepers for making Lee's Journey peaceful and less arduous.

Lee is survived by his mother, Nancy; sister, Slater (Craig); brothers, Rick (Stacey), Tim (JT), Jon, Bob (Christine); his nephew; seven nieces; and a large group of friends.

Funeral services will be held at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Richmond, VA, on Friday, November 8 at 11 a.m., with a reception after at Willow Oaks CC. The interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Noahschildren.org.
