Lee Amos Johnson, age 71, of Flint, Michigan, peacefully passed away at his residence on January 3, 2026. He was born on August 9, 1954, in Frenchman's Bayou, Arkansas, to the late Henry Johnson Sr. and Della (Kimble) Johnson.

Lee was raised in Blytheville, Arkansas, where he graduated from Blytheville High School in 1972. He later relocated to Flint, Michigan, where he made his lifelong home. A strong believer in the power of education, Lee earned an Associate Degree in Business from Baker Junior College, a Bachelor of Science in Management from Detroit College of Business, and a Master's degree in Human Resources from Central Michigan University.

Lee dedicated his professional life to service and education, working for 35 years with the Flint Community School District and also teaching at Detroit College of Business, where he was known for his professionalism and commitment to excellence.

At an early age, Lee accepted Christ and carried his faith throughout his life. He was an avid reader of the Bible, affectionately calling it "The Good Book," and faithfully read Daily Bread devotionals. His home was often filled with gospel records and cherished hymns.

Lee enjoyed bowling, participating in leagues for many years, and serving as a league secretary. He loved music, especially oldies, and took pride in his extensive record collection. A devoted sports fan, he faithfully watched "ball" games on the weekends. Lee especially loved the Christmas season, finding joy in decorating his home and thoughtfully giving gifts to others. He was known for keeping his cars immaculate and for three signature dishes: deviled eggs, banana pudding, and sherbet punch, the latter being a favorite among his grandchildren.

Above all, Lee was generous, family-oriented, and deeply devoted to his grandchildren, who brought him immense joy. He valued education and was a strong advocate for financial literacy and responsible money management.

Lee married Beverley Johnson in 1997. Though they later divorced, they reconciled as committed partners and remained together until his passing. Beverley lovingly served as his primary caregiver throughout his illness and was faithfully by his side when he transitioned.

Lee Amos Johnson is survived by his partner, Beverley Johnson; stepchildren and children, Kori Coleman (Deshawntray Coleman), Kevin Moore, Jessica Coulter, Coreese Hall, and others connected to him through past relationships, including Miranda Cantrell and Renee Horton. He leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Karter Coleman (special grandson), Karsyn Coleman, Karyss Coleman, Khyran Coleman, Ashia Clemons, Deandrea Coulter, Joshua Wells, and Maya Wells, along with extended grandchildren, including Shania Lenoir and Kayla, and great-grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.

Lee is also survived by his sisters Bessie Evans of Edmondson, Arkansas; Stella Washington of Crawfordsville, Arkansas; and Jennie Johnson of Blytheville, Arkansas; brothers Charles (Cynthia) Johnson of Bloomington, Illinois, and Larry Johnson of Blytheville, Arkansas; sister-in-law Mitcheree Johnson of Flint, Michigan; special niece Camellia "MeMe" Coleman; special great-niece Etoia (Robert) Stinson; special nephew Ronnie Hill; and many beloved relatives and friends, including Andrea Derricks, who held a special place in his heart.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Steve Johnson Sr., James L. Johnson, and Albert Lee Johnson; and sisters Erma Jean Dorsey, Paristine Paige, Alice Mae Strickland, and Diean (Dumbar) Johnson.
