Lee Roy Johnston

LeeRoy Johnston, a resident of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed away on December 11, 2025 at the age of 77. He was born in Wewoka, Oklahoma to Roy Franklin Johnston and Dorothy (Merriman) Johnston. Leeroy graduated from high school.
After high school, LeeRoy entered the US Army in 1969. He served a tour of duty in Viet Nam before his honorable discharge in 1971. His last job was as a truck diver for Gilt Edge Farms, where he delivered dairy products. He was preceded in death by both his father and his mother, and his grandparents.
LeeRoy was survived by his daughter, April Woods and husband, Johnny Woods, Jr; son, Shawn Jackson and wife Christian of Broken Arrow; a sister, Shawn and Tracy Johnston of Inola; 7 grandchildren, Kyle Johnston, Shelton Johnston, Annabelle Johnston,Shane Johnston, Shea Johnston-Bennett, Kailee Johnston Ella Woods, and Harper Woods; and he was a good son, brother, uncle, and grandfather and many good friends and extended family.
A memorial service will be held at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson Oklahoma December 18, 025 at 1:30pm under the direction of McElyea & Owens Funeral Group of Shawnee.
