Mr. Lee Roy Fields born May 17, 1941, in Smilax, Kentucky, a son of the late Bradley and Matilda Fields. He departed this life on December 6, 2023 at Akron City Hospital in Akron, Ohio at the age of 82. Lee Roy was a former resident of Leslie County and Somerset, Kentucky and resided in Mogadore, Ohio the last two years. Lee Roy was a member of Cutshin Bible Church where he accepted Christ as his Savior in December of 2011 and was baptized on December 25, 2011. Lee Roy was a retired coal miner (20+ years). He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and beekeeping most of all.
In addition to his parents, Lee Roy was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years Berniece Adams Fields. His three brothers Buster, Leonard, and Marion “Tootsie” Fields. His six sisters: Hazel Scott, Abbie Combs, Nannie Lewis, Geraldine Kirk, Wilma Ryan, Bonnie Skeens.
Survivors include two daughters: Sherri Baker, of Somerset, Kentucky. Jennifer (Greg) Spickard of Mogadore, Ohio; one sister Thelma Day of Smilax, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Alex(Charles) Combs, Matthew Baker, Nate(Nikki) Spickard, Zachary, Sydney and Jacob Spickard. Five Great Grandchildren: Thatch and Noah Combs, Hazel, Austin Lee Roy, Jaxon Spickard. Other survivors include two of his nephews whom he loved as if they were his own sons, Larry Lewis and Shannon Shepherd. Other survivors include a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
Funeral services will be held at Dwayne Walker Funeral Home, 155 Hickory Street, Hyden, Kentucky on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 2:00PM. with Rev. Tony Little officiating. Family will accept friends and other family members at 11:00am until time of service. Interment will be at Smilax Full Gospel Church of Jesus Christ, Smilax, Kentucky.
