Lee R. Simmons, 92, of New Burnside, passed away Monday, April 14, 2025, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 18, 2025, at New Burnside Municipal Cemetery, with Rev. Darrell Ford officiating.

Lee was born September 24, 1932, in Grantsburg, Illinois, to Dee and Violet (Slankard) Simmons. He married Naomi C. Toler on March 13, 1950, in Piggott, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on December 3, 1997.
He is survived by his son, Greg (Loann) Simmons; grandchildren, Austin, Forrest, Justin, Jason, Jordan, Neil, and Jeff Simmons, and Eric and Danny Estep; several great-grandchildren; plus many great great-grandchildren; and half-sister, Rosemary (Larry) Hight.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Mike Simmons; daughters, Carol Ward and Susan Broski; brothers, Tommy, Harry, and Sam Simmons; half-brother, Charlie; and sister, Brooksie Estes Turner.
Lee retired after 35 years as an insurance adjuster for Pekin Insurance. For many years, he also co-owned Crossroads Sporting Goods in Carterville along with his sons, Greg and Mike. An avid outdoorsman, Lee enjoyed hunting and fishing.
