LeeRoy Kauffman entered into rest on January 26, 2024, at Sky Ridge Medical Center surrounded by family.
LeeRoy was born on August 18, 1940, in Greeley, CO, to Henry and Esther (Martin) Kauffman. He graduated from Eaton High School in 1958. In 1959, he enlisted in the Army and served two and a half years, 18 months of it in Korea. In June of ’62, he married Shirley Foose of Eaton, and they had two sons together. They shared 61 years of marriage. LeeRoy farmed for many years and then went to work at Tomahawk Truck Stop in Watkins as a mechanic, retiring with 25 years.
LeeRoy served on both the Strasburg and Bennett fire departments for more than 25 years. He also enjoyed many hobbies which he still appreciated up to this past year including bowling, fishing, hunting, camping, watching sports, and building and painting custom windmills to sell. Very rarely did you drive by his house and not find him holding a garden hose. LeeRoy never met anyone that was a stranger, no matter where he went, and was quite the jokester. His many phone conversations and his face around town will be greatly missed by many.
LeeRoy is survived by his wife, Shirley; brother, Wayne Kauffman; sister, Eileen Thompson; two sons, Mike (Lisa) Kauffman and Greg (Lisa) Kauffman; 9 grandchildren, Cody (Chantel) Hodge, Ashley (Jeff) Owens, Corey (Sarah) Hodge, Kelsi (Leonard) Kauffman, Kenny (Sammi) Porter, Kayla Pettibone, Brian Kauffman, Kaitlyn (JD) Chenoweth, and Logan Kauffman; 10 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patricia; and brother, Robert.
