Love Funeral Homes and Monuments - StrasburgCarl Metsker, of Watkins, Colorado, passed away at the age of 93.
Carl was born on June 20, 1932, in Quinter, Kansas. He was raised in Lakewood, Colorado, where he built the foundations of a life defined by service, dedication, and family. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, an experience that remained an important part of who he was.
Following his military service, Carl devoted 32 years to educating young people as a teacher and counselor in Jefferson County Schools. Teaching was more than a career for him—it was a calling, and he impacted generations of students through his patience, knowledge, and steady guidance.
Carl shared 67 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Joan Metsker, a partnership marked by deep love and commitment. He is survived by Joan; his daughter, Michelle Parker; his son, Martin Metsker; his grandchildren, Brian Spykstra, Taylor (Hannah) Spykstra, and Brandi Parker; and his great-grandchildren, Sabien, Lily, and Clio.
In his free time, Carl found joy in woodworking, shooting sporting clays, hunting, and fishing. He was a man who appreciated working with his hands, the outdoors, and the quiet satisfaction of time well spent. Above all, he cherished time with his family and took great pride in watching it grow.
Carl will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, dedicated teacher, proud veteran, and a steady presence in the lives of all who knew him. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers or anything like that please go spend time doing a hobby and think of Carl. He appreciated hobbies more than anyone and would love for you to include him in yours.
A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, February 18th, 2026, at 11:00 am at Prince of Peace Church of the Brethren at 7000 S Windermere St, Littleton, CO 80120.
