Leevand Planter, Sr. was born on January 13, 1937, to the late McNeal Planter and Bina Planter. He peacefully departed this earthly life on January 5, 2025.
Leevand attended the public schools of Red Hill. He was a devoted father of six and a man who deeply loved his family. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Hattie Planter; his parents, McNeal Planter and Bina Planter; his brothers, Stonewall Planter and Magneil Planter; his nephew, Denzel Planter; and a beloved niece, Terrie Planter.
Leevand was a man of many interests and passions. He had a love for racing cars and proudly owned his own race car. He was also the owner of an entertainment club known as The Night Spot, where many gathered to enjoy music, fellowship, and good times. In his quieter moments, Leevand found joy and peace in fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with family, going out to eat, and fellowshipping with friends.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory his children: Aniota Singletary, Leevand Planter, Jr., Robert Planter, Cheryl Moore, Simone Planter, and LeeAnn Porter; his sisters: Rosa Planter, Thelma Sanders, and Evelyn Planter; his nephews: Tony Planter, Reggie Sanders, and Dimitris Sanders; his grandchildren: Latisha Singletary, Sherri Singletary, Mia Planter, Valerie Smith, Nalieah Raine Planter, Robert Planter, Jr., Leevand Planter, III, Larry Planter, and Anthony Planter; and his great-grandchildren: Danaisa Griner, Larry Planter, Jr., Timia Planter, Valecia Planter, and Leevand Planter. He is also survived by a host of extended family members and dear friends.
