Leigh Carol Overbey, a devoted mother and loving wife, passed away on September 6, 2024, at the age of 57. She was born June 10, 1967, in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was adopted by Dr. and Mrs. W. P. Guthrie. She graduated from Bryant High School and later from Henderson State University after earning a bachelor’s degree in home economics. She spent her career first working as a dental assistant and later working in the medical field as an intake coordinator and in billing departments.
Leigh and John met in 1984 at the Benton Pizza Hut and were married in 1992. Shortly after Daphne was born, Leigh decided to stay home and focus on raising her daughter. She was profoundly proud of her daughter, Daphne Leigh Overbey, the apple of her eye and the spitting image of herself.
To know Leigh was to understand that she was a true giver, a trait that is truly hard to find. Leigh was outgoing, fun, happy, and the life of the party. She loved vacationing at the beach, watching dolphins, and sunsets, and looking for seashells. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. Her smile and laughter were contagious. She was a people person.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Mr. Terry Reed. She is survived by her husband, John Overbey; daughter, Daphne Overbey; parents, Dr. and Mrs. W. P. Guthrie; brother, Brad Guthrie; along with aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and many friends who she cared so deeply about.
Leigh Carol Overbey leaves behind a legacy of love in the hearts of all who were privileged to know her. Her spirit, forever radiant, shines in the memories of laughter, family gatherings, and her unwavering devotion to her family, an enduring testament to the beautiful person she was.
As family and friends gather to celebrate her life, visitation will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Bryant on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. This will be followed by a memorial service from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. In this time of remembrance, we will honor the legacy of Leigh, who truly loved and was loved by her family and friends.
