Leila Santos, age 85, loving mother to 2 sons, passed away on the early hours of January 26th. She had multiple health issues and was unable to recover. Leila was born in 1940 in Inhambane, Mozambique. She was youngest member of the family having 5 brothers and 4 sisters. She was surrounded with love by her mother, father and siblings growing up in Mozambique. She married as a teenager and moved to the Azores to start her new life. John Santos was born in the Azores. Then the family moved to Montreal, Canada. She gave birth to her second child, Jim Santos, in Montreal. From there, the family relocated to California. She was a woman whose love for her children was the main focus of her life. As a single mother, she was strong and courageous in working full time and plenty of overtime in a physically demanding job to take care of herself and her two children. After her divorce, she met Ronald Critelli a couple of years later. They relocated to Dublin in 1991. They remained together for 37 years until he passed away in 2018. The love they had for each other made them inseparable during their time together. Leila was a big believer in staying active outdoors, walking several miles a day causing others to do their best to keep up with her. Goodbye to an awesome mother and a wonderful human being.
She is survived by her son, Jim Santos. Services will be held at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home on February 20th at 10AM. She will be laid to rest at St. John's Catholic Cemetery, 17871 S. Carrolton Road, Escalon, CA.
