Lena Pearl Sitsler was born on May 27, 1943, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, to Carl Howard David and Norval (Matthews) David. She departed this life on Friday, August 9, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 81 years, 2 months, and 15 days.
Raised in Glide, Oregon, Lena graduated from Glide High School in 1959 and attended Roseburg Community College. Early in her career, she held various factory jobs, including roles at a food-canning facility and Smoke Craft Beef Jerky in Albany, Oregon. Lena also dedicated many years to home health care.
On November 14, 1986, Lena married U J Sitsler in Pryor, Oklahoma. A devoted member of the Church of God in Pryor, she was actively involved in church activities, loved singing, and contributed significantly to the children's church department. Lena's unwavering faith and praise for the Lord were central to her life.
Lena had a passion for sewing and crafting, which she enjoyed alongside her mother. Her love for gardening and her experience working at a flower shop in Roseburg, Oregon, were also cherished pursuits. Known for her culinary skills, Lena's German chocolate cake was a beloved favorite among family and friends. Her generosity, joyfulness, and deep love for her family made a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Lena is survived by: her husband: U J Sitsler of the home; 1 son: David Sitsler and wife Jeanette of Salina, Oklahoma; 4 step-children: James Sitsler and wife Joyce of
Locust Grove, Oklahoma, Jack Sitsler and wife Mary of Salina, Oklahoma, Gregory Sitsler and wife Donna of
Locust Grove, Oklahoma, and Jeffrey Sitsler of
Locust Grove, Oklahoma; 1 brother: Dennis David and wife Vickie of Naples, Florida; 5 sisters: Juanita Sulfridge of Roseburg, Oregon, Susie Bidwell of Walnut Creek, California, Carleen Burkhart of Cottage Grove, Oregon, Evonne Dukehart and husband Mike of Pheonix, Arizona, and Judy David of
Locust Grove, Oklahoma. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband: David Sitsler; 1 daughter: Phyllis Ann Sitsler; 3 brothers: Denver David, Harold David, and Homer David; 1 sister: Joann Keeton; 3 brothers-in-law: Clarence Sulfridge, Rodney Bidwell, and Floyd Burkhart; and 4 step-children: Jennette Stipes, Juanita Sitsler Taylor, Terry Nollen, and Michael Sitsler.
A funeral service to celebrate Lena's life was held 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at the Locust Grove Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Derek Hays officiating. Interment followed at Hogan Cemetery near
Locust Grove, Oklahoma. Arrangements were entrusted to Locust Grove Funeral Home.
