Lenard A. Oakes, born on August 9, 1931, passed away on January 31, 2026, in Searcy, Arkansas. He was a beloved figure whose life was marked by his love for family and passion for the great outdoors, and music.
Lenard will be fondly remembered as an outdoorsman, relishing every opportunity to engage in hunting and fishing. He developed a love for music while growing up and he loved playing on his steel guitar for his family and friends. He loved spending time with his family most of all.
He leaves behind his cherished children: Johnny L. Oakes (Janet) of Searcy, AR., Tommy E. Oakes (Carla) of Appleton, AR., and Stacy Ann Holleman (Jeff) of Searcy, AR. Lenard also found immense joy in his grandchildren: Dustin (Lisa), Lance (Alison), Joshua (Brandye), Logan, and one step granddaughter Holly. His legacy continues to thrive through his great-grandchildren, Megan, Carmen, Brooke (Chris), Willow, Scarlett, and Simon, as well as his great-great-grandchildren, Jonathon and Braelynn.
Lenard was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Wilma Jean Boyd which he adored so much; his mother, Selia Lytle; and his stepfather, Eugene Lytle that had raised him from an early age.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on February 12, 2026, at Cole Funeral Home in Kensett, Arkansas, beginning at 1:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to come together to honor and celebrate the life of a remarkable man who touched so many lives with his kindness, warmth, and adventurous spirit.
