Lenard Stephens, Jr., 92, passed away on January 18, 2026.
Lenard was born on January 27, 1933 to the late Lenard Stephens and Annie L. Stephens Jordan in Shannon, Mississippi. He grew up in Tupelo, Mississippi, where he attended school. After graduation, Lenard entered the United States Air Force where he proudly served for over 22 years. He retired from the Air Force in 1975, relocating to Racine, Wisconsin. Lenard worked for Racine Unified School District for approximately 20 years.
He met and married his wife Rita, while stationed at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. They have been married for over 67 years. To this union were born two children, Mark Anthony Stephens and Vickie Rene (Stephens) Connor.
Lenard is survived by his wife, Rita; son, Mark of College Park, Maryland, daughter, Vickie (Stephen) Connor of Ann Arbor, Michigan; three granddaughters, Jeanette, Emma, and Bradie; one great-grandson and one great-granddaughter. Further survived by sister, Georgia Hamilton; brothers-in-law, Michael (Judy) Hogan, and Darryl (Carolyn) Stanley; sisters-in-law, Sharon Crutchfield, Marsha Willis, and Carla Clemons; and several nieces and nephews.
Lenard will be laid to rest at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at 11 a.m. with full military honors.
