Lenn "Vic" Seppi died November 16, 2024, as a result of pancreatic cancer with hospice care and support from the staff at the VA Community Living Center in Iron Mountain.
Vic was born on January 17, 1940, to the late Elmer and Ilmi in Chicago, Illinois. He grew up in Springfield, Illinois, graduating from Springfield High School in 1958. He attended his parents' Alma Mater, Michigan Technological University in Houghton, for one year prior to enlisting in the United States Coast Guard. He was deployed during the Cuban Crisis, returning to college after his service and graduating from the University of Michigan.
Vic met Joann Farley on a blind date while attending Michigan Tech. The couple married in Chassell, Michigan, in September of 1965. They started their family in Springfield, Illinois, soon returning to Upper Michigan where they raised their four children. Vic had a long career with the United States Postal Service, retiring as the Postmaster in Sagola, Michigan. Throughout his career Vic also remained active in the Coast Guard Reserve, assisting with cleanup in Alaska following the Exxon Valdez oil spill and later in Desert Storm.
Service to others was a lifelong commitment for Vic. His efforts have supported Fortune Lake Lutheran Camp and community rebuilding projects affiliated with Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. He served as a Red Cross Disaster Relief Volunteer in his retirement and served many people in need across the country in this role.
Along with his parents, Elmer and Ilmi, Vic is preceded in death by his brother Carl, his brother-in-law Lyle Klemz, his grandson Justin Curran, and his daughter-in-law Robin.
He is survived by his wife, Joann; his children, Chris, Todd (Devona), Sarah (Keith) Curran and Rachel (Tom) Hart; his grandsons, Andrew and Will Curran and Zak Kylo Blackmon; his sister, Ruth Klemz, and her children; his sister-in-law, Cari (Bob) Maki; and his nephew, Jay. He also had strong connections with his many cousins and friends near and far.
Visitation will take place from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 1210 S. Kimberly Avenue, Iron Mountain, Michigan, 49801 on November 25, 2024. A funeral service will follow at 11 am with Pastor Dr. Nick Hopman officiating.
In Vic's honor, donations may be made to Fortune Lake Lutheran Camp, 138 Fortune Lake Camp Road, Crystal Falls, MI 49920 or through their website fortunelake.org.
