Lenore Group

Lenore Group, 94, of Somerset, New Jersey, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Born on April 8, 1930, in Newark, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Nathan and Mae (Libes) Flomin. After spending her early years in Coney Island and Puerto Rico, she lived in Brooklyn before finally moving to Somerset in 1964.
Lenore was an active and cherished member of the community. She was a member of Temple Beth El's Sisterhood in Somerset and took pride in her involvement with the Franklin Township Women's Club. A long standing, active member of the Cedar Hill Swim Club, she cherished the friendships she formed there.
An avid reader and lover of games, Lenore enjoyed regular Mahjong nights with her close circle of friends plus summer days playing at Cedar Hill, was an avid fan of Star Trek, and relished watching old Westerns. An enthusiastic tennis player in her younger days, she also delighted in solving the Sunday New York Times Crossword Puzzles. Travel was another joy; in the 60s and 70s, she looked forward to family car trips to Miami each August, and later trips to Europe and Israel, creating lasting memories. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jay Group, and her brother, Jerry Flomin.
She is survived by her sons, Richard Group and his wife Gail of Philadelphia, PA, Mitch Group and his wife Kathleen of Florida, and Matthew Group of Somerset, NJ. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Alex and Sara Group, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss her deeply.
Lenore will be laid to rest at Beth David Cemetery in Elmont, NY.
