Lenore Mitchell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home on Dec. 31, 2025.
Lenore Adelle Mitchell, age 84, peacefully transitioned on December 20, 2025, in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was born on January 15, 1941, in Brooklyn, New York, and her life reflected the strength, warmth, and resilience of the community that raised her.

Lenore was the beloved daughter of Jacqueline Davis and William Davis, both of whom preceded her in death. She was united in marriage to Leonard Mitchell, who survives her and shared a lifetime of love, family, and devotion with her.

Lenore was known for her deep love and nurturing spirit. She loved her children, grandchildren, and all of her bonus children with every piece of her heart. Her home was a place of comfort, peace, and refuge, a welcoming space for her family and for all who ever walked through her doors. She poured out love generously, touching many families and children throughout the community, from Cypress Hills to Queens. Lenore was truly loved, respected, and cherished by many.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her oldest daughter, Jacqueline Clarke Robinson, her youngest son, William Clarke, who passed just six days before her, and her beloved granddaughter, Sharena Swain, and great-nephew Brian Reaves.

Lenore leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Leonard Mitchell; her surviving son, Dennis Clarke, and his wife, Evonne Clarke; a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Clarke, and son-in-law, Dwight Keith Robinson; and a legacy of grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved deeply.

Her grandchildren include Dynisha, Rasheeda, Adina, Montell, and Lavar (children of William); Prince, Kavon, and Raheem (children of Dennis); and Dwight Jr., Princess, Savasha, Autumn, Connard, and Enola (children of Jacqueline and Wanda). She is also survived by great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandson, her great-niece Rowena, the Leary family, and a host of extended family members, friends, and countless lives she impacted throughout her journey.

Lenore's family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for her and for them. A service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Noon in the funeral home chapel, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, NC 28105. Visitation will be from 11 AM until the time of service. Services will be livestreamed and a link will be posted here the day of the service allowing you to join.

Scripture: "For I am convinced that neither death nor life… will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." - Romans 8:38–39

Lenore is no longer physically present, but her love has not left us. It remains woven into every memory, every lesson, every embrace she ever gave. The family takes comfort in knowing that love is never separated by death, and that nothing, neither time nor distance, can break the bond she shares with those she loved so deeply. Her nurturing spirit lives on through generations, and her presence will always be felt in the lives she touched.

Tribute honoring Lenore and her baby boy William

Lenore shared an unbreakable bond with her son, William Clarke, who passed just six days before her. He was deeply devoted to his mother, her constant companion, protector, and one of her three greatest joys. She was truly his everything, his best friend, and the one he leaned on for guidance, comfort, and love. Their connection was one of rare closeness, rooted in devotion and unwavering love. Though their passing came so close together, the family finds comfort in believing that they were not meant to be apart for long and that they are now reunited in peace.
