Lenore Stella (Cerra) Peters, 95, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 30, 2025. She was the devoted wife of the late George J. Peters. Born on April 30, 1930, in Dunmore, PA, she was the daughter of the late John Cerra and Nora (Guerrucci) Cerra.
Lenore was a graduate of Scranton High School. She worked as a bookkeeper at a cosmetic company, where her precision and professionalism were deeply valued. A faithful member of St. Peter the Apostle Church in Parsippany, New Jersey, she lived her devotion quietly and sincerely through acts of kindness and service.
Lenore embraced life with a radiant spirit. A masterful seamstress, she turned fabric into works of art and, from age 75 to 90, ran a thriving side business crafting custom sewing and embroidery that delighted clients and reflected her lifelong passion. On the golf course, she found freedom and joy, swinging with grace and competing with a gentle fire. Around the card table, she was a cherished companion, her laughter and sharp wit drawing friends close for countless evenings of play and connection. Her hands created beauty, her heart built bonds, and her presence filled every room with warmth.
Lenore adored her family above all. Her heart overflowed with pride and tenderness for all of her loved ones.
Lenore's arrangements have been entrusted to Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem, PA. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.
SURVIVORS: She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Michael Peters of Stroudsburg; sister, Mary Cody of Tennessee; and many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, George J. Peters; her son, James Peters; and her brother, John Cerra.
CONTRIBUTIONS: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lenore's name to the Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, 1161 Cherry Dr, Stroudsburg, PA 18360 and/or the AWSOM Pet Rescue and Animal Shelter, 3129 Godfrey Ridge Dr, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
