Steve Pruden Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cantelmi Long Funeral Home - Bethlehem on Mar. 19, 2026.
Steve Pruden, 72, of Catasauqua passed away on Tuesday March 17th, 2026 surrounded by all that he loved: his family, his friends and of course music.

After graduating from Plainfield High School in New Jersey in 1971, Steve moved to Bethlehem, PA after starting his first band Buckdancer's Choice and that is where he met his beloved wife of nearly 50 years Nancy.

A hard working man, Steve spent the vast majority of his career as a floor layer. If you visit any hospital in Eastern Pennsylvania there's a pretty good chance you're walking on some of his work!

A true family man, Steve spent many, many days at the baseball field coaching each of his 3 children, Chris, Kati & Chuck over the years, as well as serving as Vice President of the board of the Catasauqua Junior Baseball Association. Even when they weren't at the field, Steve was always up for a game of catch with his kids, and made sure to teach them the art of running & fielding a pickle at the plate.

Steves second biggest passion outside of his family was music. Be it playing his guitar, Marty, around the campfire, or in front of a crowd with his band Prugal, Steve let the music pour from his soul. He also had a lifelong love for going to see live music, be it supporting other local musicians or going to see some big name artists, especially the Grateful Dead.

Steves absolute favorite role in life was earning the title of Pappy to his three beautiful grandchildren, Aryana, Layla, and Travis. Steve never smiled so big as he did when talking about his grandchildren.

Survivors: Steve will be greatly missed by his loving wife Nancy (Hausman) Pruden, sons Chris "Sport" Pruden and wife ShaRee of Catasauqua, and Charles "Chuck" Pruden of Catasauqua, Daughter Kati and husband Kevin of Whitehall, and his three adoring grandchildren Aryana Grace, Layla Cassidy, and Travis Robert. Steve is also survived by his three brothers Jack, Scott and Terry Pruden all of New Jersey.

Services: Private services at the convenience of the family. Steve's services have been entrusted to Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.

Contributions: In lieu of flowers, Steve would ask that everyone support live music and music education, because as the Grateful Dead said "The Music Never Stopped".
