Nancy R. Jones was born on Feb 18, 1933 in Plainfield. NJ. Nancy departed this life on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at St. Peter's Medical Center in New Brunswick, NJ. Nancy was 93 years of age.

Nancy comes from a long legacy of Roman Catholics. Nancy's family was one of the first Black families to join St. Mary's Church in Plainfield, NJ. at the turn of the 20th century. She was a lifelong communicant and member of the Rosary Club. Nancy was a graduate of Plainfield High School Class of 1951.

An avid and faithful exercise enthusiast, Nancy was a long time member of the YMCA of Plainfield, NJ. She continued with a group of faithful friends until she was no longer able to attend.

Nancy was one of the first starting members of SALT- Save A Life Today program and The Neighborhood Watch to rid hers and other neighborhoods of drugs. Nancy was once quoted as saying, "You are only a senior citizen if you want to be. It's a mindset".

Nancy received a certificate of acknowledgment for her participation in the discovery of Black Catholic history in Baltimore, Maryland at the site of The National Blacks in Wax Museum, The Orchard Street Church and Saint Francis Academy.

Nancy was predeceased by her parents Charles E. Brown and Alice Tilgham Brown, one brother Charles W. Brown, two sisters Doris E. Brown and Shirley Williams, one daughter Deborah Randolph, a bonus grandson Tyreis Ford and a great granddaughter Fajr A. Ellison.

Nancy is survived by her husband James Jones, one daughter Carol Ann McDougald, two bonus daughters Anita Ford Vargas(Juan), Polly Jones Graham (Sylvester), three grandchildren Milika Randolph, Jihad A. Poole (Carol), Rashid Randolph, bonus grandchildren James K. Ford (Jennifer), Darren McAuley (Tammy), Malcolm McNulty, Molly McNulty (Darnel), Elijah Ford, Janus Ellison Jones and Maricela Murillo. Two great granddaughters Trinity Poole and Jahira Kearney along with two bonus babies Amelia and Maya Clarke.

If you knew Nancy, you knew how important her family was to her. She was known to travel state to state for the family reunions. The Urquhart and Jenkins reunions will certainly miss Nancy. The dance floor will never be the same.
