Leo Adams, 90 of Texarkana, Texas died on Monday, September 1, 2025. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, September 13th at 11:00 a.m. at Greater New Hope Baptist Church 1101 Phenie Street. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service.

A Time to be Born
Deacon Leo Adams was born May 27, 1935 in McNab, Arkansas to the parents of Claude and Beatrice (Hopkins) Adams.

A Time to Plant
He attended Hempstead County School graduating from Howard County Training School in 1955. Then he moved North with the hope of obtaining employment.

A Time to Reap
Leo Adams was employed at General Motors for thirty-nine years and was one of the first men of color to work the assembly line at Chevy V-8 Engine plant in Flint, Michigan.

A Time to Love
Leo Adams fell in Love and married Sharon Graham and their union lasted thirty-one years.

A Time to Serve
Deacon Leo Adams accepted Jesus as Lord of his life at an early age and was baptized in a lake near Zion Hill Baptist Church, McNab, Arkansas. He attended Foss Avenue Baptist Church, Flint, Michigan for thirty-three years and served on numerous committees and ministries.
Upon his marriage to Sharon, he moved to Texarkana, Texas and joined Greater New Hope Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a Trustee, Deacon, as well as the church custodian. He was also a member of the Mass Choir and Male Chorus.

A Time to Die
For ninety years Leo Adams graced us with his presence. God called him home late Monday evening on September 1, 2025. He will always be remembered for his love of serving at the church, family and his love for Buicks.

A Time to Mourn
He leaves in God's care to cherish his memory: A loving and devoted wife, Sharon Adams, step-daughter Regina Graham (Spring, TX) and from a previous marriage three daughters, Debra (James) Brown (Flint, MI), Brenda Adams (Mt. Morris, MI), and Teresa (Howard) Ware (Shelby Twp, MI); two sons, Kelvin Adams (Grand Blanc, MI), and Leo Jr. (Lisa) Adams (Swartz Creek, MI); as well as, thirteen grandchildren and twenty-nine great-grandchildren; his twin brother, Cleo Adams (Arlington, TX); two sisters, Herbie Burks (Hemet, CA) and Dorothy (Lee) Starr (Carson, CA); eight sisters-in-law; five brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Leo Adams was proceeded in death by his parents Claude & Beatrice Adams; grandparents, Henry & Caroline Adams; sisters, Hortense Ware, Marjorie Muldrew, Alean Bridges, and Pauline Satterfield; brothers, Claude Adams Jr. and Caesar Adams; and a granddaughter-in-law, Keyla Adams.
