Leo Harris Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Barnes-Friederich & Pope Funeral Home - Midwest City on Mar. 4, 2026.
On Saturday, February 28, 2026, Leo Harris, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 74. Leo was born on June 16, 1951, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Leo Harris, Sr. and Marjorie (Pickens) Harris. He attended Capital Hill High School before enlisting in the United States Army at the age of 17. He would go on to marry his childhood sweetheart before becoming an Army Ranger and deploying to Vietnam. During his 3 tours in Vietnam, he was awarded multiple medals including 3 purple hearts, 2 bronze stars, and others before returning home after a near fatal ambush in which he was gravely injured. He was a proud Veteran who loved sports, especially baseball, and watching westerns.

In November of 2000 he met Daira Hightower and in spite of their age difference they fell in love. They married on September 8, 2010, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas and never left each other's side.

Leo was preceded in death by both his parents and brothers, Cecil, Ricky, Thomas, and Henry Harris, and his sisters, Ada and Sally. Leo is survived by his wife, Daira; his 3 sons, Leo Harris, III and wife Tammy, Mark Harris and wife D'Ann and Kevin Harris; his 2 daughters, Christina (Harris) Finley and her husband Corey, and Larissa Hanna; a brother, Johnnie Harris and his wife Sue; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services to honor his life and memory will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 2pm at Barnes-Friederich & Pope Funeral Home in Midwest City, Oklahoma followed by burial at KOLB cemetery in Spencer, Oklahoma.
