Leo James Haskins

May 6, 1938 – August 14, 2025

Leo James Haskins, born May 6, 1938, in Douglassville TX, passed from this life on August 14, 2025, at Methodist Mansfield Medical Center in Mansfield TX. He was 87 years old.

Leo is preceded in death by parents Avance Haskins and Mary (Ivory) Haskins; brothers Sammie Haskins, Johnnie B. Haskins, Buddy Lee-Haskins, and Erbie Lee; and sisters Lila Murl Haskins and Wedia Faye Barber.

He is survived by sons Kelvin Haskins (Whitney) of Texarkana TX, and Eldric Rondell Haskins of Cedar Hill TX; daughter Andra Haskins-Bryant (Benjamin "Chip") of Mansfield TX; brothers Advance "Jr" Haskins (Lawanna) of Douglassville TX, and Jessie Haskins of Douglassville TX; sisters Winnie Pearl Hatley of Douglassville TX, Mary Alice Bell of Douglassville TX, and Katevious Haskins of Douglassville TX; bonus sister Alberta Cunningham of Douglassville TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and dear friends.

Leo was a true country boy at heart, happiest when he was outdoors with the sun on his back and the smell of fresh-cut grass in the air. He took great pride in caring for his lawn, keeping it green, neat, and welcoming, a reflection of the love and effort he poured into everything he did. Landscaping wasn't just a chore to him-it was a joy and a craft, a way to bring beauty and order to the world around him. Whether planting flowers, shaping trees, or simply mowing straight, even rows, he found peace and purpose in the simple work of tending the land he loved.

A visitation for family and friends will be held at Queen City Funeral Home on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 10:00am-11:00am. A funeral service in Leo's honor will follow beginning at 11:00am. Interment will be held at Gum Springs CME Cemetery in Douglassville TX.
