Leo M. Lucci, 84, of State College, died Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Juniper Village at Brookline, State College.
Leo was born on September 5, 1941, in Allentown, a son of the late Leo Louis and Jean (Compare) Lucci.
Leo graduated from Allentown Central Catholic High School in 1959. Following high school, he attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh for two years. He then transferred to the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science and graduated in 1966 with a bachelor's degree in pharmacy. He would follow in his father's footsteps as a second-generation pharmacist.
Early in his career, Leo was first employed as a pharmacist with Thrift Drug in State College for a brief period of time. He then accepted a position at Peoples Drug at the Nittany Mall. It was here that Leo would meet his future wife, the former Dolly M. Stamm. They were married on February 21, 1971, in State College. They relocated to the Galeton area in the fall of 1972 where they established their own independent pharmacy, Galeton Drug. Dolly served as Leo's business manager and together they served the Galeton area for 26 years. They sold the business and retired in the fall of 1999 and returned to the State College area. During his retirement, Leo continued to work as a part-time pharmacist for various area pharmacies; as a volunteer for the Centre Volunteers in Medicine and as a volunteer at the Mount Nittany Medical Center.
Leo was a member of the Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church, State College; a former member of the State College B.P.O. Elks Lodge; and while living in Galeton, he became member of the local Rotary Club. His membership in Rotary International led to Leo and Dolly hosting numerous exchange students throughout the years. They maintained good friendships with most of them; and several of the students have maintained a very close relationship even now with Leo's passing.
Leo was an avid Penn State football fan. He and Dolly held season tickets for many years and enjoyed getting together with family and friends to tailgate at the games. Among his other hobbies, Leo was an accomplished golfer and he enjoyed skiing, hunting and traveling. But most of all, he loved doting on Dolly.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved Dolly, who preceded him in death on March 28, 2022.
Leo is survived by a daughter, Cindy M. Hoffmaster and her husband, John, of Huntingdon, Pa.; a granddaughter and great-granddaughter, Katie Hoffmaster and Vanessa Culbertson, both of Holtwood, Pa.; a grandson, Terry Hoffmaster, of York, Pa.; a sister, Patricia Seagraves and her husband, Eugene, of Allentown, Pa.; two nephews, Ryan Seagraves, his wife, Samantha, their two sons, Brandon and Gabriel and their two daughters, Abigail and Wren, all of Carlisle, Pa. and Sean Seagraves, his wife, Robin, and their three sons: Derek, Evan and Jason, all of Coatesville, Pa; and numerous other extended family members.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 15, at 11 a.m., at the Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church, 851 Science Park Rd., State College, Pa 16803, with Pastor Bryan Spang, officiating.
Burial will be in Centre County Memorial Park, State College.
