Thomas Mathie Obituary
Thomas was raised in Dravosburg and attended St. Peter's School in McKeesport for his grade school years. He went on to McKeesport High School, where his passion for sports began to flourish as he served as the sports editor for the school newspaper.
After graduating, Thomas honorably served his country for four years in the United States Marine Corps, where he was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant. Following his military service, he pursued higher education at Duquesne University, earning a degree in journalism and consistently achieving recognition on the Dean's List.
Thomas built a distinguished 34-year career at Westinghouse Electric, where he excelled in marketing and communications. Beyond his professional achievements, Thomas was a diehard sports fan. He held season tickets to the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins for many years, enthusiastically supporting his hometown teams. When he wasn't at a sporting event, he could often be found on the golf course, enjoying friendly rounds with friends and family. Thomas and Betty Clare also shared a love of travel, often spending their winter months enjoying the warmer weather in Myrtle Beach.
Thomas was the beloved husband of Betty Clare Mathie (Lauble). He was a loving father to John, Colleen, Brian (Jennifer), and Tom (Laurie). He was a devoted brother to Judy Boies. Thomas was also a proud grandfather to Susan, Elizabeth, Bradley, Jimmy, Nick, Ben, Emma, and Evie. He cherished time spent with his grandchildren and family, and they will forever hold his memory in their hearts.
He will be remembered for his steadfast presence, his unwavering love of family, his dedication to his country and career, and the lasting impact he made on all who knew him.
At Thomas's request, there will be no visitations or services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the http://woundedwarriorproject.org or a charity of your choice.
Private arrangements have been entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, Robinson Township, PA.
