Phillip Lucci Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Living Waters Funeral Home & Crematory - Lyman on Jan. 27, 2026.
Our beloved father, Phillip Louis Lucci, passed away surrounded by family on January 21, 2026, in Taylors, South Carolina. He was born in 1944 in Rochester, New York, to the late Francis and Phoebe Lucci.

Dad was steady and deeply devoted to his family, known for his strong character and quiet determination. Once he set his mind to something, he could be unwavering, but that same resolve was what made him so dependable and deeply loved.

Trained as an engineer, he belonged to the first generation of coders, programming mainframes for General Motors. He continued working as a programmer as computers evolved from punch cards to modern systems, working for US Foods before retirement.

Dad had a passion for growing tomatoes and waging an ongoing battle with the squirrels over the bird feeder. He loved to travel, almost as much as he loved planning the trip. Dad had a generous heart and loved serving others through the church, helping with the sound system, packing food for the homeless, and greeting congregants. He was also a dedicated blood donor. Most recently, he was a devoted member of Hope Church in Greenville.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Karen Kipers Lucci; his children, Justin (Erin) and Gina; his grandchildren, Benjamin (Glory), Matthew (Yendry), Rebekah McGuffin (James), Rachel, Jacob, Isaiah, and Hezekiah; and his sister, Mary Lou Baldwin. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Lucci.

We will remember Dad for his sweet tooth, strong work ethic, and the deep love he had for his family, along with the determined spirit that made him uniquely himself.

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday February 15th at 4pm at Hope Church Greenville; 805 Frontage Rd., Greenville, 29615

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sidewalk Hope Greenville (https://sidewalkhope.org)

I will always remember Phil, his sweet and quiet presence touched me in a deep way. He carried the love of the Lord, strength, peace and a warm smile. I am sure he is wearing that sweet smile as he sees all that you, Karen, and your sweet family, have been sharing together and as you prepare these details.

My sweet friend, Karen, he is so proud of you, your love, your strength and absolute strength and trust in our Heavenly Father. You are walking in deep faith and grace. I am proud to be your friend and love you as family!

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11
