A Memorial Mass for Leo A. Moschenross, age 88, of
Norfolk, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2025, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Norfolk. Reverend Gregory Carl will be celebrant, with burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Norfolk.
Military honors will be provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1644, American Legion Post 16, and United States Navy Honor Guard.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Home for Funerals Chapel, 708 Georgia Avenue in Norfolk, with a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service.

Leo died Monday, March 10, 2025, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
Leo Moschenross was born in Columbus, NE to Leo V. and Rose (Geier) Moschenross on October 21, 1936. As a young child he moved to Omaha, NE. After moving back from Omaha to Columbus, he started Junior High School at St. Bonaventure and graduated in 1955.
During high school, he joined the Naval reserves and shortly after graduation went into active duty in the Navy. After leaving the Navy, he moved to Norfolk and attended Norfolk Jr. College where he also played football. He received his bachelor's degree from Wayne State College.
On October 5, 1963, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Osmond, NE, Leo married the love of his life and forever bride, Elaine Moes. They went on to build a family with two beautiful children, Dan Moschenross and Nancy Swanson.
Leo went on working for CIT and was transferred to Minot, ND and then onto Council Bluffs, IA. In 1969, Leo and Elaine moved back to
Norfolk, NE and he worked for Delay First National Bank as a small business loan manager. After years of his dedicated service, he retired in 1994. With the love of the banking industry, Leo took a position for the Bank of Madison, then later retired again in 2000.
He was awarded the Northeastern Nebraska College Hall of Success honor in May of 1972.
Leo was a long-time member of Sacred Heart Parish and a longtime EME.
He was a member of the Optimist Club, a long-time member of the Norfolk Country Club and served on the board of directors, twice. Leo was a volunteer of the Norfolk Food Pantry, United Way, and delivered Meals on Wheels. Leo was a long-time avid golfer who loved to play golf with his wife, family and friends. During their free time, both Leo and Elaine often traveled throughout the US camping with their children and after retiring spent many winters in California and Texas.
Leo is survived by his wife, Elaine; son, Dan of San Antonio TX and grandchildren, Meshya, Brayton, Preston and great-grandchild, Cheyenne; daughter, Nancy Swanson of Springfield, NE and grandchildren, Jesse Bergstrom, Torey, Cole and Coby Swanson; two sisters, Margaret Moschenross of Denver, CO and Rose Marie Wilds of Omaha, NE; in-laws, Ann Marie (Don) Thies, Don Moes, Florance (Jim) Glenn, Cathy Moes, and LaVon Moes; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo V. and Rose Moschenross; and great-grandson, Bently Moschenross.
