Leo Rose Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Shannon Funeral Service - Shelbyville on Mar. 26, 2026.
Leo Francis Rose, 78, of Simpsonville, Kentucky, passed away on March 13th, 2026. Leo was born on March 12th, 1948, to Rita Josephine (Hegarty) Rose and Leo Bernard Rose in Boston, Massachusetts. On Leo's 17th birthday he entered the Marine Corps. During his service, Leo was stationed in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. He took great pride in being an Aircraft Landing Technician. Following his service, he began a long and successful career with General Electric, being promoted to National Parts Pricing Manager. Leo was a lover of community, Louisville sports, and all things golf (though it was never in his destiny to go pro). He created the Rose Group, a close-knit golf circle that staked claim over the first tee time every Saturday at Weissinger Hills golf course in Shelbyville, KY. Though Leo loved cheap beer and a good bet, he was always the first to pamper and spoil his friends and family with memorable gifts, vacations, and incredible outings. Leo was a member of the Zachary Taylor American Legion Post 180 in Louisville, Veterans of Foreign War, the Moose Lodge in Shelbyville, and the Marine Corps League.

Leo was the loving eldest brother of six siblings: Nancy Vacca, Judy Elias, Richard Rose, Patrick Rose, John Rose, and Rita Neill. He also had many great nieces and nephews. Leo is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Mary Rose; his grandchildren, Blayne Arseneault and Saige Rose Arseneault; and his great-grandchildren, Mason and Lyla Rose Arseneault. There have been so many amazing people in Leo's life including Michelle Elmore and her children Mackenzie, Peyton and Tyler. Also in that list are included Scott and Julie Cooley, Scott and Gayle Boston, Keith Stonecipher, Allie King and her children, Eleanor and River. Their love and friendship were truly cherished by Leo.

A Celebration of Life is being planned for the future.
