Leon “Butch” England, 88, died at his residence on Thursday, December 11, 2025 surrounded by family.
Butch was born October 4, 1937 in Mount Pleasant, MI to the late Helen (Norris) Scott and Clark England. He graduated from Bremen High School in 1957. Butch married his best friend Shirley (Trickett) England on December 23, 1961, they would have celebrated 64 years of marriage this year. He served in the United States Army, and was proud to be an American. Butch worked as a Mold Polisher for Lancaster Mould Company, before retiring in 1991. He was the third generation in his family to work for the company. Butch loved to sing and whistle, and was always quick with a joke.
Butch is survived by his wife Shirley England; son Chris (Anne) England; grandchildren Tanner England, Jacob Libby, and Abby Miller; siblings Karen Spires, Dennis Lockhart, and Kathy Whalen; sisters-in-law Pat (John) Tirtonegoro, and Donna Lockhart; as well as several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and one great great nephew.
He is preceded in death by his son Jay Michael England; mother Helen (Paul) Scott; father Clark (Roxie) England; siblings Marilyn Hiles, Kenneth Gayle Lockhart, Jim Lockhart, Shirley Brown, and Nancy Wright; and sisters-in-law Tammy Lockhart and Mary “Boots” (Bob) Miller.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, 406 East St., Sugar Grove, OH 43155. Family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Private burial will take place at a later date in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lancaster.
