Mr. Leon Preston "Small" Catlin

Deacon Leon Preston 'Small' Catlin, a lifelong resident of Mobile, Alabama, passed away peacefully at home on February 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, who will deeply miss him and cherish the memories they shared with him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Moffatt; devoted and loving mother, Leola Thrash; stepfather, Richard Thrash; brothers Herman Jr and Calvin Moffatt and his son, Leon Jr.
Leon grew up in the Orange Grove Community, attending Aimwell Baptist Church and later became a member of Greater Union Baptist Church and served on the Deacon Board. He was educated in the Mobile County Public School System. After high school, Leon joined the United States Army where he served four years. After over 40 years of service he retired from Seafarers Union as a Merchant Seaman.
He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Annette Catlin, his children, Helen Carole (Wilmer) Sigler of Houston, Texas, Taman (Shayria) Catlin, and Teresa Catlin, all of Mobile, Alabama; sister, Jacquelynne M. Williams, of Woodstock, Georgia. He also leaves three godsons, Demetrius, Norris Jr., and BJ; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will deeply miss him and cherish the memories they shared with him.
