Leon Edmark Obituary

Leon Edmark

June 20, 1936 - January 16, 2025

Leon L Edmark, age 88, fell asleep in death on January 16, 2025. No more will he be in pain and suffering. He will be asleep in death, until as God has promised in the Bible, he will receive a resurrection to a better world, here on earth.

Leon was born to the late Alvin and Bessie (Echtner) Edmark on June 20, 1936, in Racine, Wis., and went to school in Union Grove, Wis. They moved to Waukesha, Wis., and finished schooling and graduated from Waukesha High School. After school, he married Carol Katzner on April 16, 1955. He joined the Navy in 1956 and served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1959 when he was stationed in Great Lakes Naval Base.

He worked for American Motors/Chrysler after he was discharged from the Navy for 33 years. He was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1959 and loved the public ministry. He met and later married Susan Hagen on August 3, 1993, in Las Vegas, Nev. He loved to work in his garage and replace engines and motors for his family and friends. He also owned a body shop that painted cars. If he wasn't in the garage or shop working, he loved to read and write poetry, listen to classical music, camp, give away trophies and candy to people. He was a giver and helped others no matter what they needed. He was an animal lover at heart and fed the wild every day.

Leon is survived by his wife, Susan; daughter, Diana (Phil) Mader; sister, Joan Muehl; grandchildren, Matt (Holly) Mader, Chris (Erika) Mader, Megan (Dan) Galler, and Preston (Lexi) Mader; stepchildren, Pam (Rod) Powers, Kim (Paul) Cina, and Tom (Viola) Hagen; great-grandchildren, Madison, Olivia, Gwyneth, Elsa, Jack, Flora, Macklin, Wyatt, and Olivia Mader, Sienna and Grayson Galler; stepgrandchildren, Ryne and Kyle Powers, Nick (Stephanie) Cina, Jacob Cina, Alexandria (Jordan) Hamm, and Ian (Paige Lauer) Hagen; and step great-grandchild, Ivan Hamm.

Along with his parents, Leon is preceded in death by his siblings, Muriel (John) Gomez, Elaine (Bruno) Kremin, Yvonne (Steve) Yankovich, Donn (Violet) Edmark, Wayne (Patsy) Edmark, and Allen (Francis) Edmark; and brother-in-law, Eddie Muehl.

Memorial visitation will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 7333 Green Bay Road, Kenosha, Wis. on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 2:30 p.m. until the time of service at 4 p.m. If you would like to watch the service live, please login to the Zoom meeting just before the service. Wanted to share a wonderful pix of Leon with our good friend Bill from
NC. This pix was taken same 8 years ago on beautiful Lake Michigan ! Lee is a spry 80 years young! Bill here is one our group of dear friends that Uncle Leon invited some months ago to join his buddies from Antioch, We have Richard, ( the walking Insight Book) Garrett, which was Lee´s nickname for the man! Papa Stevie Kosick, our sage, mature experienced Elder joining us from FLA, Bill from NC, Denny, Antioch, and last, but not least me. Leon began this gathering some 5 years ago when the Pandemic hit us, and changed our life forever. But, all these Brothers faithfully continued to meet, online in Zoom, for all these years, and we continue to meet, to honor our dear friend, Brother, Servant, Father, Grandfather, Uncle, son, and Faithful Husband of his dear beloved wife & care giver Sue! Lee´s final days were filled with sentiment, love , laughter and sadness . His dear only child Dianna was there to comfort him before he fell asleep. The wonderful Hospice Alliance, were amazing as they took gentle, loving sincere care of him. Giving Aunt Sue some beautiful help, these past weeks. He sleep´s now, awaiting that hope we all have, to see our loved ones again. Jah will call, and he will answer. .

Sleep well, uncle Leon, and when you awake, the world will be a paradise.

I have fond memories of Leon. When I was young n pioneering, he always serviced my car...he even overhauled my old VW. Washing out the parts in his bathtub.
He was always very generous, and esp. interested in assisting the young ones.
I am sorry for your loss Diana...
