Richard Roever, 84, passed away on January 17, 2026.

Richard was born in Burlington, Wisconsin, on June 12, 1941, to William and Mary Roever. When Richard was 13 years old, his father passed away. His mother Mary later remarried Sigmund Kraszka, expanding the family Richard grew up in. His siblings included William, Dan, Rose, and Marilyn Roever, and Ted, James, and Mary Jo Kraszka. The family lived in Wales, Wisconsin, where many lifelong memories were made.

Richard graduated from Waukesha High School. As a young man, he planned to join the United States Marines, but an unfortunate accident at age 18 resulted in the loss of his eye, changing the course of his plans but never his determination or spirit.

Richard met his wife Jean in Wales, Wisconsin, through mutual friends. They were married on May 23, 1966, in New Orleans. Through their marriage, Richard became an immediate and devoted father to Bryon, Rene, Holly, Lisa, and Shelley. Together, Richard and Jean later welcomed Kandi and Clint. To everyone who knew them, they were simply one family-you would never know it was a blended one.

In 1979, Richard and his family moved to Oregon, where he began a long and dedicated career at MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility, working there until his retirement.

Richard lived life fully and loved the outdoors. He played football and baseball, and was deeply involved in rodeo sports, including bull riding, barrel racing, and steer wrestling. He especially loved riding horses and fishing. A loyal Brewers and Packers fan, he also enjoyed following his favorite teams.

Above all, Richard was a devoted family man. He faithfully attended his children's sports events, concerts, and rodeos, always offering his support and encouragement.

Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife Jean, his son Bryon, and his daughters Holly and Lisa.

He is survived by his daughters Rene, Shelley, and Kandi, and his son Clint, along with 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, who brought him great pride and joy.

Richard will be remembered for his resilience, strong work ethic, deep love of family, and passion for life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
