Leon Helms, age 69, of Black Springs, passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2026 surrounded by his friends that he called family.
He was born on August 28, 1956, in Fort Bening, Indiana. He was the son of Elbert Helms and betty Huftine Helms. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, William Bill Helms.
Leon was known most of all for his work ethic. He loved farming, cutting hay, and tending to the animals. He loved being outside. Most of all he loved his dog, Socks. Leon was a wonderful friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his four daughters, Christina Helms, Bambi Smith, Trish Mikullyuk, and Ryan Gardner; His brother, Danny Sedam; his sister, Connie Helms; and his special friends he called family, Marty Waggoner, Christian O'Neil, Albert Petty, Bridgett Chambers, Rhonda Petty. Ronnie Waggoner, Tammy Waggoner, and Hunter Wehunt.
Cremation arrangements are under direction of Smith Family Funeral Home- Glenwood. A celebration of Leon's life will be held at a later date.
