Heaven called a great man to come home on Sunday. David Leon Robinson, known as Leon, was born May 17th, 1947 in Oakley, Idaho to Merrill B. and Norine Robinson.

He was raised in Oakley, Idaho, and he spent lots of his youth riding horses, chasing cows, raising sheep, jumping over things he shouldn't oughta, and breaking bones. He attended Oakley High School, where he met his high school sweetheart, Marlene Mylroie. It only took a few flattened tires for the other suitors to take a hint. After serving in the California Mission (1966), he convinced that girl to marry him. They were married for time and eternity in the Salt Lake City Temple on Feb. 14th, 1969; Valentine's Day, so he wouldn't forget. It still didn't work because he couldn't remember when Valentine's Day was. They lived in Salt Lake where he completed his Associate's Degree in Automotive Mechanics from Utah Technical College. They moved to Burley, Idaho in May of 1969 and have called it home ever since.

Leon worked for 40 years for the Cassia County School District as a mechanic and later the transportation supervisor. He loved his family, farming, cows, horses and scouting; we are still unsure as to the order. He could give you a horse genealogy without skipping a beat. He spent many years on his trusty steed Trigger riding in the Cassia County Mounted Sheriff's Posse, where he claimed no one could beat him at the trailer race. He spent many years in the scouting program and was awarded the Silver Beaver Award. He and Marlene served a mission in the Rapid City South Dakota Mission, stationed in Bismark.

His true joy was his family and grandkids, and he loved showing up to support them in anything he could drive to. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marlene, and their five children: Rick (Joelle) Robinson, Brent (Kelli) Robinson, Jeff Robinson, Angela (Reed) Garside, Cindy (Nathan) Slaughter. They have 21 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Waiting to welcome Leon in Heaven are many family, friends and loved ones including his trusty steeds, Trigger and Jack, who have been waiting for their next ride in the open fields in heaven.
