Leon Allen Strandberg

LEON ALLEN STRANDBERG Leon Allen Strandberg, 74, of International Falls, Minnesota, died on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at his home. Allen was born on December 16, 1951, to Leon and Adele (Lindgren) Strandberg in International Falls. He grew up at Brown's Corner and graduated from Falls High School. He was baptized at Oak Park Lutheran Church in Weme, Minnesota. Allen enlisted in the United States Army. He attended basic training in Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. He was assigned to the 9th Infantry Division as a motor pool mechanic and completed his training in Ft. Lewis in Washington. He went overseas to Bayreuth, Germany where he guarded the Czech border. His service was from September 1972-1975. Following his time in the service, Allen worked for John's Refrigeration and Shannon's Plumbing and Heating. Growing up, Allen was a member of First Lutheran Church and later in life he attended Littlefork Lutheran Church with his family. He also loved being a member of 4H. He enjoyed deer hunting, football, baseball, cooking, gardening, farming, trapping, and visiting with friends and family. Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Adele; Debbie's parents, Riley and Mary Dunn; sister, Linda (Larry) Crandall; niece, Tanya Crandall; nephew, Aurilien Skumatz; and grandparents, Oscar and Sally (Nordlund) Lindgren and John and Tillie Strandberg. He is survived by his life partner of 38 years, Debbie Dunn; sisters, Barbara (Tom) Wichner and Susan (Maynard) Nickelson; nieces and nephews, Lori (Tony) Udovich, Tim (Gena) Wichner, Primus (Kim) Skumatz, Jessie Skumatz, Apryl (Pete) Mullvain; brother-in-law, Maurice (Heidi) Dunn and their children, Casey, Cory and Charlie Dunn; sister-in-law, Lynn (David) Gadbois and their children, Eric (Meghan) Gadbois, Julia (James) Braaten, Adam (Nicole) Gadbois, and Emily (Korey) Brown; and his and Deb's great nieces and nephews, Oren, Oliver, Gunner, Ryder, Ashlyn, Madelyn, Rylee, Carly, and Jameson. Allen will be missed by many. Including his neighbor, Marie Walker; and good friends, Walter and Charolette Martin, Danny Seegert, Charlie (Lynn) Kocinski, Larry Crandall and Kurt (Shelly) Pariseau. He was able to give the gift of sight to someone by donating his eyes to the Lions Gift of Sight after his passing. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in the summer of 2026.
