Leona Ann Diederich Clark passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, at Prairie Senior Center in Colby.

Leona was born in Selden, KS on April 26, 1941, to Julius Diederich and Mae (Weaver) Diederich. At an early age her father nicknamed her “Butch” which she carried with her the rest of her life. She grew up and attended school in Selden. After graduating high school, Leona helped her mother run the cafe in Selden. On October 30, 1961, she married Jerry Clark at the Sacred Heart Church in Selden. After marriage Leona worked at the bank and sold real estate in Colby.

Leona was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was proud of her family. She enjoyed family pinochle games with occasional trips to the casino. Her favorite hobby was gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, two sisters and one great granddaughter.

Leona is survived by her husband Jerry, of the home; two sons, Terry (Lori), Lawrence, KS and Darren (Susan), Melbourne, FL; grandson Bryce, Wichita, KS; granddaughter Kalyn, San Antonio, TX; step grandchildren, John (Katy), Monroe, LA, Melissa (Derek), Wallace County, KS and Josh (Katie), Olathe, KS; six great-granddaughters; five great-grandsons; one sister Darla Zerr (Albert) and two brothers, Denny Diederich (Sandy) and Dale Diederich.

A Memorial Mass will take place at a later date at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Colby, with burial in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Sacred Heart School and sent in care of Baalmann Mortuary, PO Box 391, Colby, KS 67701. For information or condolences visit baalmannmortuary.com
